What to Bring to Registration for Model and Stylist:
You MUST bring two forms of ID to registration that day to show proof of your age and a photograph.
Proof that the model is at least 18 years of age. Without it the model cannot be used.
Your License or proof online of your active status. (It may be requested.)
Competitor must supply their own model, styling cape, tools, supplies, and outfit. Each participant will be provided with 1 electrical outlet on the competition floor. Only 1 item may be plugged into the outlet at
a time. All electrical equipment must be 1800 watts or less. All blow dryers must be marked with wattage.
All contestants and models must sign a release form allowing photos and video images to be used by I Heart Black Business and all assigners.
All Participants (contestants and models) must sign a model release form. In doing so, the contestant agrees to abide by the final decision of the judges.
If any of these rules or regulations are not followed, I Heart Black Business has the right to refuse participation in the event.
By participating in this Contest, all entrants and models irrevocably and forever agree to release, defend, indemnify and hold harmless I Heart Black Business from and against any claim, liability, injury, damage, death, loss, expense, or cause of action arising out of participation in the Contest or acceptance, receipt, travel related to, inability to use, or use of any prize.

Models are to be dressed with make-up done before the competition begins. Hair can be pre-braided and/or pre-wrapped. Stylist is required to use the hair provided in the Competition. You will receive 2 bundles. Stylist must provide all needles, foam stand, and thread for the competition. Needles can be pre-threaded and brought assembled. Hair must be cut and styled. The finished style must be a professional, trendsetting, non fantasy hairstyle. Attire, makeup and nails must compliment the total look.

Compete 4:30pm – 4:50pm
Judging 4:50pm – 5:10pm
FADE + BEARD
No pre-cuts allowed. All models must have #2 or higher on the crown and some form of facial hair. Hair must be taken down to a MINIMUM of 1 ½. A beard or goatee must be noticeably groomed. Styles will be judged on precision and technique.
Set-up 5:30 - 5:50pm
Compete 5:50 - 7:50pm
Judging 7:50pm - 8:10pm
This is a total look freestyle design competition. Styles will be judged on creativity, level of difficulty, neatness and technique. Stylist is required to use the hair provided in the Competition. The entire head must be braided or twisted. Any combination of braids, locs, and twists may be used. Embellishments can be used, but do not garner extra points. The use of loose glitter and confetti is prohibited. There can be no loose flowing hair.
Bridal Updo Competition
Set-up 5:10 - 5:25pm
Compete 5:25 - 6:10pm
Judging 6:10pm - 6:30pm
All hair must be on top of the head. No hair should fall past the neckline. Hair can be free flowing, twisted, and/or braided. Embellishments can be used, but do not garner extra points. The use of loose glitter and confetti is prohibited. Stylists will be judged on technique, level of difficulty, creativity, and total look.
Set-up 6:30pm - 6:45pm
Compete 6:45pm - 7:30pm
Judging 7:30pm - 7:50pm
This is the time for the barber to get creative and show off their skills. Barbers will be judged on creativity and neatness. No pre-cuts. This is a total look haircut and style competition. The model's hair cut must compliment his/her full outfit. All coloring and chemical processes MUST be completed prior to checking in for the competition. Competitors are required to remove at least ½ inch of hair off the entire head during the competition. JUDGES MAY VIEW HAIR ON THE FLOOR.

Compete 8:25pm - 8:55pm
Judging 8:55pm - 9:15pm
Competitors may style up to 3 models. Model must be fully complete: dress, make-up, hair and accessories upon check-in. The entire design must be made of 85% hair. The finished style must be part of the model’s total look. The attire must tie-in with the hairstyle and theme. There is absolutely no nudity allowed. Stylists and models can walk around the show until set-up begins. Judging will include hair, headdress, clothing, make-up, nails, and accessories. ALL STYLES MUST INCORPORATE GOLD INTO THE DESIGN. Entries will be judged on the total appearance of the individual models, as well as the cohesiveness of their ensemble if presenting more than one model.
